LASIK - The importance of diagnosis
The importance of diagnosis
After a detailed consultation and information by the oculist follows an extensive eye examination. In this process is also determined the exact refraction value of the eyes. With the help of a very complex measurement method (so called cornea topography) an exact surface picture of cornea is recorded and analysed. Since some time ago we have used a further, for the refractive surgery very useful diagnostic screening method. The wave front analysis allows the registration and analysis of all optic features of the eye, even of those optic interfaces which lie deeper in the eye, for example the lens. The measurement of the whole optic system by means of this very progressive wave front technology provides such specific data that an individual laser correction of ametropia is possible.
At the moment the wave front measurement is the technically most progressive measurement method with several results for the laser treatment. Thus the perfect laser treatment is exactly coordinated with the individual visual defect of each patient. This essentially improves the postoperative success of the treatment even in boundaries of everyday vision, for example during the car drive on rainy streets at night.
The success of the treatment decisively depends on the exact diagnostics. Only by the application of modern measurement methods and corresponding analyses the operation can be successful with 99 per cent of all cases. For getting a correct and undistorted picture of cornea you should not use contact lenses two weeks before the treatment.
