Relaxation of the eyelid

The elasticity of our eyelid tissue and the subjacent lid muscles can sag to different extents over the years. Because of this, different ageing symptoms such as wrinkles, drooping eyes or puffy bags, the so-called lacrimal sacs, can develop.

Through a small and gentle laser treatment, redundant skin that forms wrinkles or drooping eyelids or also the subjacent sagged muscle tissue is partly removed and tightened with appropriate sutures. An additional extraction of fatty tissue can help remediate lacrimal sacs. Mostly the upper eyelids but often also the lower lids are affected.

Even if the original elasticity of the skin cannot be fully restored, eyelid surgery will nevertheless achieve a striking regeneration of your appearance. Apart from the relaxation of the eyelid, other occurrences can affect your appearance and the function of the eyelids such as drooping of the eyebrows, strong atony of the cheek and temple tissue, alterations of the eyelid levator muscle or also other dysfunctions of the nerves, muscles or blood vessels. This has to be well diagnosed before surgery. Additional methods for the treatment are available, such as face, forehead or brow lift and other surgeries, and must be discussed individually with your ophthalmologist.
