If excess skin or fatty tissue is removed, then blepharoplasty in particular will lead to rejuvenation or “refreshment” of the patient’s looks. The tightening of the muscles can support this effect; however, the loss of elasticity cannot be fully eliminated, meaning that small smile wrinkles on the lower lid or on the side of the temples can once again emerge.

However, they are less conspicuous than before surgery. Differences between both sides, which can be seen on all people, can also lead to a slightly different distribution of scars or wrinkles after surgery. It is mostly considerably easier, though, to apply makeup to eyelids that underwent blepharoplasty.
