Eyelid malposition

A defective position of the eyelid can originate from relaxation of the eyelid muscles, scar formation due to conjunctivitis, injuries, surgeries, facial paralysis or congenital diseases. If the eyelid margin turns inward, the so-called entropium, inflammatory processes or ulcers can be caused due to the friction of the eyelashes on the cornea and the conjunctiva.

If on the other side the eyelid margin turns outward, the so-called ectropium, the lacrimal discharge is hindered and the cornea can dry out. This can result in a chronic conjunctivitis. Thus, we recommend surgery to eliminate the discomfort and prevent vision impairment.  Â
