After surgery

If the operation is performed as an outpatient procedure, please be aware that the anaesthesia or the use of a sedative, analgesic or narcotic temporarily affects your capacity of reaction. Therefore it is best to be picked up by someone after the surgical treatment. You should not drive on the day of your surgery, nor operate dangerous machines or make important decisions.

Consult a physician if your bandage shifts out of place or your state of health worsens! Apply cooling batches (compresses with physiological saline solution or cooled chamomile tea) immediately after the operation for at least three days! Do not practice sports and avoid physical exertion during the first days!

The best time for removing the sutures should be discussed with your physician! Do not worry if you notice a swelling, a discolouring/bruise or a tight sensation in the eye area, if you cannot close your eyelids completely or the lower eyelid/outer lid corner slightly sticks out from the eyeball. These events are normal if they subside within the first weeks. A tight sensation or hypesthesia in the scar area sometimes may take a few months to level off.
