Cologne, experimental thesis written in the field of pharmacokinetics.

Parallel courses of German language and literature studies, art history and history of medicine. Master of Arts degree on the thesis “The medical language in the lyrics of Gottfried Benn”.

Residency at the ophthalmological clinic of the University of Cologne.

Collaboration in various international ophthalmological research projects, e.g. refractive corneal surgery, Dry Eye syndrome.

Active as an ophthalmologist in the western part of Cologne since many years. Her work comprises the whole spectrum of conservative and diagnostic ophthalmology:

• Fitting of contacts, especially astigmatism and keratokonus-corrections
• Laser therapy of the frontal and rear eye section, e.g. concerning retinal detachment, Diabetes, Glaucoma, Hyperta
• Diagnosis of ophthalmoplegia/ocular palsy on children and adults, vision therapy and amblyopia therapy (reduced vision of one eye)
• Diagnosis und therapy of glaucoma, HRT, pachymetry,  visual field measurements
• Early diagnosis of macular diseases
• Acupuncture in cooperation with specialised colleagues

One of the guidelines of her work is the holistic view of the patient with the often complex psychosomatic background. For this purpose, an interdisciplinary network with other medical specialists is also available, which has been built up over years. This close cooperation serves the comprehensive medical care of the patients.

In 2005, the extension of the conservative ophthalmological practice to an operative joint practice as a bridging to surgery was undertaken together with Prof. Dr. Philipp Jacobi. The foundation of this unique operative centre in the western part of Cologne is based on the successful professional cooperation of many years between Dr. Zipf-Pohl and Prof. Jacobi during his long-term leading practice at the ophthamological clinic of the University of Cologne.
